Worked as TV writer prior to shifting to the legal field. Spent 27 years working in law offices before moving to the U.S. District Court, S/D WV, Probation Division. Spent 20 years with government and mainly worked as part of the substance abuse treatment team. Since retirement, spending time with 3 granddaughters and husband. Take care of sister-in-law who is a special needs person. My book, "We Fought Back, about a year in my life and how our community worked together to stop the destruction of the entire community.

I did not get to sign the book in North Carolina as planned as the publisher and printer experienced technical problems. I have several book signings scheduled and radio talk show appearances. On Aug. 13, a podcast of the Bobby Nelson radio show will be available on the internet at 5:00 pm. The station is WRVC at 930 am and 94.1 fm.

For past two years,!i have been working as an editorial assistant for a publishing company. I am currently working with publisher and two authors on books. I will be listed as co-author on one that is in graphic design phase now. Makes for interesting part-time hobby that pays good money. The book Al Qaeda Pivot, detailing visits to our area by 9/11 terrorists during planning stage of attacks. Other well known members of the group were in area. Some surprises are revealed in book. This book is to be released soon. Also one of my short stories has been published in a book titled Not Taking a Fence, edited by Danny Kuhn, and is available on Amazon.

School Story:

Found a bunch of letters in my locker written by girls feuding over a boy. Pretty nasty remarks back and forth. We posted a note in the Bagpipes asking "Who got the guy?" and telling them they could see Ms. Skeens to claim their notes

So sorry to learn that John has passed away. We had some great times in high school. He was always joking and laughing. We got to know each other in journalism class. Had a lot of fun working on the Bagpipes. John will be missed.

Laura, I too worked for the federal government's U.S. District Court. I worked in the probation office on the substance abuse treatment team. One of my duties was working with potential vendors for testing, treatment, and mental health services. I received bids and prepared the contracts. Government contracting is not easy. You have your work cut out for you. I retired in 2007.
